Australian Marist Solidarity (AMS) has been invited to be part of a new international network of Marist NGOs and other solidarity initiatives. At a meeting in Rome April 26-28, representatives of the major NGOs and emerging entities met at the invitation of the international Rome based NGO called FMSI. Representation at the meeting included all continents with delegates from Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Spain, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Italy and The Philippines.
The CEO of AMS, Brother Allen Sherry noted that “this was the first occasion for acknowledging the new global potential of exchange and formal network among our 23 Marist NGOs and the other diverse Marist solidarity entities”. He remarked that “its main objectives will be to invite a wider participation in the network in the coming year and to work at some specific objectives around child advocacy, disaster management protocols and co-funding of transformative development and education projects.”
