2018 Midyear events have so far been attended by over 120 people across Melbourne and Sydney.
On Saturday 12 May 2018 AMS hosted our first mid-year gathering in Melbourne at the Marist Centre Melbourne. The pre-footy brunch was hosted by Friends of AMS and Julie Ryan, MSA Regional Director, chaired the formalities which included an interview with some of the young people who created Wild Timor Coffee as a social enterprise with farmers in Timor Leste. The AMS team then pressed onto Sydney for a Wednesday night gathering where Ashley Bulgarelli, AMS project co-ordinator, provided an update on several of our projects including St Marcellin School, Bangladesh our featured school campaign for 2018 (more on that here). Our mid-year gatherings have also provided an opportunity for AMS to launch of our End of Financial Year appeal which this year focuses on Katilosa who provide physiotherapy to physically disabled young people in Timor-Leste (more on that here).
Another mid-year event takes us to Adelaide where Jim Whiting, AMS board member, and Brother Allen Sherry, CEO of Australian Marist Solidarity, would like to thank AMS supporters at a cocktail function and report on AMS growth and projects, including the development of St Marcellin School, Bangladesh.
