The board of Marist Solidarity Cambodia (MSC) met last week in Phnom Penh and agreed on final plan for the new “MSC Village” to accommodate disabled secondary and university students in the MSC Inclusive education programme.
The Village land has been donated and the buildings partially funded. The MSC board together with the team at Australian Marist Solidarity in Brisbane are now seeking funding to build 10 small houses which will be a feature of the accommodation as well as other shared buildings such as a dining room for some meals in common, recreation space, and an IT Resource Centre. It is hoped to include a multi-faith centre in the plan as it develops given most of the students are Buddhists.
The land has been cleared and a drainage system set in place by an AVI volunteer Sam Lolicato who has trained local workers who are now responsible for the next phase which is agricultural training plots for students.
