On June 6th across all Marist projects in 23 countries where Australian Marist Solidarity is working, work stops at some point to commemorate the life and inspiration of our solidarity work with young people on the margins of life. Marcellin Champagnat started a movement in a poor hamlet in France called LaValla over 200 years ago. He saw, as we continue to do so at AMS today, that quality education access is a key lever to alleviating poverty. Education projects have now spread to 81 countries worldwide.
In Brisbane the AMS team are celebrating the day with a Eucharist of thanksgiving at noon followed by brunch with our main local generous Catholic charity partners, AMS board and committee members and local brothers.
To our project partners in the field in Asia, Africa and The Pacific Islands we wish you all a ongoing share in the hope that Marcellin dreamed for a new world where education was for all and of high quality.
Buona festa!
