On a cold, damp Melbourne night, more than 60 people joined Australian Marist Solidarity (AMS) team members Brother Mark Fordyce, Sister Anne Kelly—a Loreto Sister, and CEO Brother Allen Sherry for an exhibition that showcased images of India, which were produced by well-known photographer Conor Ashleigh.
The Eyes on India event explored the work that Marists were doing in the south of India, through the eyes of young people and their parents.
Guests were welcomed by deputy leader of the Marist Association Mr Joe McCarthy, who then introduced Brother Allen.
Brother Allen provided the context of the photographs and shared some of the stories of people that featured in the images.
He said, “We are very grateful to Creffields Digital Print of Melbourne for supporting our work and for printing these stunning images at no cost.”
Brother Allen thanked the Friends of AMS group, who catered the event and the Remar Youth Ministry team that served guests.
Guests, once again enjoyed wines that were donated by our friends, the Cremasco family, from their Mount Towrong winery, which is located in the Macedon Ranges in Victoria.
Our 2016 mid-year appeal for the Marists’ work in India was made successful, thanks to the generosity of our Australian donors. Please go to our website to make a tax-deductible donation at any time of year to show your support of our project partners not only in India, but throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
Thanks to the Marist Youth Ministry team for supporting our Eyes on India event on Sunday, August 21.
