Saturday the 17th of September marked the opening of 4 new classrooms at the Bercoli Catholic School, Timor-Leste.
Thanks to the generous support from many donors including Assumption College Kilmore, Padua College (Mornington) and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College (Alice Springs), Bercoli Catholic School has been able to construct 4 new classrooms to meet the urgent needs of a growing school with ageing infrastructure. Moreover, the school can now cater for students from years 1 to 9.
Representatives at the schools blessing and opening included Fr Francisco, Vicar General; Fr Julio, President of Fundasaun Sao Jose; Madre Herminia, Director of Fundasaun Sao Jose; Fr Avelino SDB, Parish Priest of Venilale and Fr Justiniano SDB, Parish Priest of Baucau Vila Antiga.
Also present were representatives from the Municipality of Baucau, Regional Office of Ministry of Education, Ministry of State, Local Village Leaders and Traditional cultural leaders. Delegates from Assumption College Kilmore—Kate Fogarty (school Principal) and teaching staff, Padua College (Mornington) and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College (Alice Springs) also made the trip to support the school opening after their wonderful fundraising efforts.
