Australian Marist Solidarity (AMS) has launched their 2019 Christmas Appeal with the focus being on the District of Asia where they have been changing the lives of young people for the past 10 years.
The Marist District of Asia was conceived in 2005 when the Superior General of the Marist Brothers launched an initiative for Marists to be present in the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in Asia.
In 2009, fifteen Brothers began forming communities in Northern Cambodia, Bangladesh & Thailand, developing education projects with rural communities, ethnic minorities, Burmese migrants and other marginalised people in these countries.
Today there are over 60 Brothers in the District of Asia, working across six countries. AMS has worked hand-in-hand with these projects since they were established and helped them grow and amplify their impact within the local communities.
