Last Wednesday November 30, the board of Marist Solidarity Cambodia (MSC) farewelled American Maryknoll Missioner Sister Luise Aherns. Louise has been chairperson of the reconstituted MSC board for three years and a member since its inception. Luise has worked in Cambodia for over 20 years and returns to New York on a new mission.
Allen Sherry fms, CEO of Australia Marist Solidarity (AMS), moved a vote of thanks on behalf of the AMS board which is the parent organisation of MSC. He remarked that Luise “had led the board through a significant transition of merging two local Cambodian NGOs with a high level of professionalism and generous commitment to the children of LaValla and Villa Maria programmes”. The Province Leader of the Marists in Australia, Brother Peter Carroll, also sent a message of gratitude for Luise’s support of these projects which provide educational access for Cambodian children with disabilities.
The team at AMS Brisbane wish Luise years ahead full of promise.
