Major Religion: 83% of the population of Vanuatu is Christian. An estimated 32% is Presbyterian, 13% Roman Catholic, 13% Anglican, and 11% Seventh-day Adventist

Country Information

Vanuatu – a string of more than 80 islands once known as the New Hebrides – achieved independence from France and Britain in 1980. Most of the islands are inhabited; some have active volcanoes. Vanuatu is mountainous and much of it is covered with tropical rainforests. Like most of the area, it is prone to earthquakes and tidal waves.

Marists in Vanuatu

The Marist Brothers are present at the St Michel Catholic Technical College which is under the auspices of the Diocese of Port Vila.  The Marist Brothers have been working in Vanuatu since 1991.
