By partnering with us, we can restore dignity to the lives of marginalised children and youth in India by providing access to basic healthcare and educational opportunities.

Country Information

Despite facing significant overpopulation, widespread corruption and extensive poverty, India is emerging as a global power. With over 55% of the population living in multidimensional poverty, India is home to one-third of the world’s poorest people. The country lacks adequate sanitation and water facilities, has a limited education sector and has some of the world’s highest rates of violence and discrimination against women.

Marists in India

The Marist Brothers have been present in India since 1974. Today, the Marist Brothers run four schools and carry out welfare activities through Marcellin Trust, an NGO formed by the brothers. One of the main focuses of the trust is working with poor children and HIV affected families, as these marginalised groups are often cast out of society and struggle to live healthy and fulfilling lives.

They have developed three schools in the Tamil Nadu state […]

Reducing the fear and isolation experienced by families affected by HIV in Trichy

Of the 65 million people living in the state of Tamil Nadu, approximately 650,000 are HIV positive. Of these, one in seven is a child under the age of 14. These people are some of the most neglected in society because of their poor knowledge about the virus and its effects. Because of the stigma associated with the disease, many […]
