This week Mr Anthony Lennon presented Brother Paul Kane, Vice-Provincial and AMS Board Director with a cheque to support ICFP students at the Teachers Training College in Timor-Leste, on behalf of The Tony & Gwenyth Lennon Family Foundation.
The scholarship was created in honour of former Business Manager of the Melbourne Marists, Mr Rex Cambrey. The foundation’s generous scholarship support has already seen six students from the Marist Teachers College in Baucau, Timor Leste, benefit through to graduation in 2016 and 2017. Currently there is a commitment to two undergraduate students who are expected to complete their studies in 2019.
Michael Coleman, AMS Timor-Leste Project Coordinator thanks the foundation’s directors. He says, “the support of The Tony & Gwenyth Lennon Family Foundation, and other organisations, for aspiring East Timorese teachers continue to contribute to the future of quality education for children and young people of Timor-Leste.”
