It has been a busy few months at Operation Rainbow, a Marcellin Trust project, that provides support for families and individuals affected by HIV in Trichy, India.
Over the past few months Operation Rainbow has conducted several inclusive community events. ‘Run and Fun’, a community building activity, was organized by students of the Social Work Department of Bharathidhasan University, Trichy in collaboration with Operation Rainbow. It was aimed at engaging children and their parents in sharing their life stories and building a positive and healthy interpersonal relationship among them to fight against all forms of discrimination. Mr. Issack Rudolf, Mrs. Revathi, Mrs. Amalia and Mrs. Shabeena Banu along with Bros. Marist Brothers Jeyaraj, Rajakumar, Jiji and Saul were the special guests at the meeting. Various cultural events and games were conducted for both children and parents and winners were honored with special prizes.
The Festival of Lights –“Deepavali” (generally known as the festival of lights) took place and brought together the local community as well as the Operation Rainbow family. To add to the festivites, the staff and students of St. Patrick’s College, Dundas, Australia were on hand during the special occasion. Marcellin Club members, students of Bharadhithasan University and St. Patrick’s performed various cultural shows and enthused the crowd. Following the show, everyone shared in a special special lunch and rations provided by the Rainbow staff.
Students of St. Teresa’s Catholic College, Noosavile, Australia also visited Operation Rainbow on immersion during the September/ October school holidays.
