‘Climbing NEW Heights’ was the theme for the 2017 Rainbow Summer Camp at Operation Rainbow, a Marcellin Trust project aimed at reducing the fear and isolation experienced by families affected by HIV in Trichy, India.
The five day camp became a milestone for the children at Project Rainbow as they walked side by side, sharing their stories, caring for and playing with one another, learning and growing together as these effected families came together as one community. Approximately 90 children actively participated in the 5-day camp
Climbing New Heights was centered around developing a growth mindset as well as the outcomes that can be achieved by positive thinking and sharing strong human and spiritual values. Delivered by guest speakers and the staff at Project Rainbow, the families of the program contributed generously towards the successful encounters among the children from both Operation Rainbow and La Valla Evening Study Centres.
Operation Rainbow was established by the Marist Brothers in 2003 to address the needs of the very large number of children and their families, who are affected by HIV/AIDS.
It aims to redress the lifetime of fear, isolation and social stigma experienced by those who are HIV positive by offering free access to resources like medical seminars, counselling, and home visits.
