Report card is in for LaValla Evening study Centre in the Tamil Nadu province of India, a Marcellin Trust project.
The LaValla Evening Study Centre was introduced at Operation Rainbow as well as nine other locations, aiming to provide additional opportunities for school children in rural villages to utilize their free time after school and access assistance on their educational endeavours. This project has benefited many rural children on the periphery to overcome their economic hardships and afford them an opportunity at a better life. Now, the first year results of the LaValla Evening Study Centre are in and make for promising reading. In 2017, the education centres catered for 365 students, including 209 boys and 156 girls. Importantly, the program expanded from the initial 10 centres to 12 providing opportunities for 12 teachers, 5 volunteers and 2 coordinators.
