Staff and students from Mount Carmel Catholic College are welcomed into the Marist Centre for Migrants community.
Earlier this month, a group of students from Mount Carmel Catholic College in Varroville arrived at the Marist Centre for Migrants in Samut Sakhon, as part of their cultural immersion in Thailand.
Eight students, accompanied by two staff members, are spending their mid-year school holidays working alongside the centre community.
These students have willingly given up their school break to work in solidarity with the Marist community project, helping to support and educate vulnerable people who have been forced to vacate their homes in Myanmar and cross the border into Thailand.
The MCCC immersion group’s presence within the community has been warmly welcomed and the extra education support within the centre is greatly appreciated.
The group is working with children in classrooms and participating in a variety of activities, immersing themselves into the culture of Samut Sakhon.
We wish the MCCC cultural immersion group all the best for the remainder of their experience.
