Last month, the new Marist Nursery and Primary School in India celebrated the inaugural graduation of its first cohort of young students.
Teachers, village officers, local Marist Brothers, and almost all the parents of the graduating students attended the ceremony, which was held on April 16.
South Asia Province delegate Reverend Brother Chinnappan also attended as a special guest.
The new school, which is located in the rural village of Vizhalanmedu, opened its doors at the start of the new school year in mid-2015.
It offers 70 children from the very underprivileged community of Vizhalanmedu the opportunity to receive formal education that will enable them to enrol in higher education.
Marist Solidarity is grateful for the support of its Australian donors, especially St Patrick’s Marist College in western Sydney, for helping our partners in India achieve this exciting milestone.
