Marist Solidarity is pleased to announce the launch of our 2016 campaign kit, which is distributed to the 50 Marist schools in our Australian network.
The theme for this year’s campaign is Transform our world, one step at a time. It reflects the important messages about our “relationships with God, with our neighbour and with the earth itself”, as outlined in Pope Francis’s 2015 letter titled ‘Praise Be to You’—or ‘Laudato Si’.
The 2016 kit looks at concepts of stewardship and ways that we can all contribute to a world that is more ecologically sustainable and equitable.
It provides practical ideas about how we all can help protect our common home and it shows how Marist Solidarity is improving the lives of some of the world’s poorest people through education and development.
Included in this year’s kit are a poster, video, teaching and learning materials, and activities for prayer and reflection.
To maintain the momentum of this year’s campaign and increase engagement with our Marist schools’ supporters, we have created a hashtag #mysolidaritystep. We will feature this in our social media, including our new Instagram page.
We encourage students and staff to use the hashtag to share your solidarity photos and stories.
Marist Solidarity Executive Director Brother Allen Sherry says, “We hope to inspire all Marist school communities to join our campaign in the year ahead, and help raise awareness and much-needed funds to support our fellow Marists in 17 countries across Asia and the Pacific.”
The kit is being distributed to all Marist Schools during the first weeks of the new school year. It can also be downloaded from our website www.maristsolidarity.net.au.
The campaign video is available on our You Tube channel by following the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9dBI8-W2FURU0PMGJDtqtw. Here you will find both primary and secondary student versions of the video.
